Third time's a charm! We're thrilled to be hosting this event, after the original venue had to be closed as a result of local flooding and then Storm Darragh disrupted the rescheduled performance at Wiltshire Music Centre on Saturday 7th December.
This delightful fundraising concert has been arranged by the local Ukrainian community, who are hosting a festive handmade fair followed by a magical musical performance.
So what’s happening? The programme reads: “The story unfolds in a typical English Café, where British writer Caroline is tasked with creating a Christmas tale based on Ukrainian traditions. Skeptical and uninspired, her perspective shifts when she meets Olena, a Ukrainian woman eager to share her culture. Guided by the Spirit of Christmas and the playful Modern Goat, Caroline discovers enchanting customs relating to Christmas Eve, the vertep and the symbolic didukh. Through laughter, tradition, and heartfelt stories, Caroline rekindles her belief in the magic of Christmas, creating a tale that bridges cultures and celebrates its true essence.”
There will also be Ukrainian homemade food for sale in the foyer before and during the concert and souvenirs and books for sale too.
How to give
There is no ticket fee – donations will be taken on the door and all money raised will go to the Rotary to the Children of Heroes, an organisation that helps Ukrainian children who’ve lost their parents on the front line. Donate online or bring cash on the night.
There will also be a collection of toys and children’s clothes.
