Sing on stage in our community choir to close out our Big Jazz Weekend in style!

From Friday 22 – Sunday 24 November we will be hosting our Big Jazz Weekend – a fun-filled three days celebrating the vibrant jazz scene at WMC – and we are looking for singers to form our WMC Chorus for the spectacular finale concert of the weekend!

We will be working with composer, educator and choral director Pete Churchill to bring together the WMC Chorus and Wiltshire Youth Jazz Orchestra for the weekend’s finale concert. The performance will feature Pete’s beautiful and joyful pieces for chorus and big band, in a variety of styles and arrangements.

The choir will sing gorgeous arrangements of ‘I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to be Free’ and ‘Just Squeeze Me’, as well as Pete’s uplifting songs ‘Dig Deep’ and ‘Cut From The Same Cloth’. Our incredibly talented Wiltshire Youth Jazz Orchestra will accompany the choir for these songs, as well as raising the roof on their own with jazz favourites like ‘The Girl From Ipanema’, and thrilling tunes by Big Jazz Weekend’s Saturday night guest artist Nikki Iles.

Project FAQs

WMC Chorus is open to singers of all abilities from age 12 upwards and you don’t have to audition. It is useful if you have experience singing with a choir and can read music, but this is not required.

Rehearsals:

  • Thursday 7 November, 7.45 – 9.30pm
  • Thursday 14 November, 7.45 – 9.30pm
  • Thursday 21 November, 7.45 – 9.30pm
  • Saturday 23 November, 2 – 4.30pm

Performance:

  • Sunday 24 November
    Rehearsal at 10.30am, concert at 3pm

Adults: £45 / U18s: £22.50
